Role - I have my own company called Artemis Group. I do leadership development work. I also created the LifeStar Wellbeing Guide to help people see the impact of their day-to-day choices on their ability to recharge, live well, and enjoy life. And I am the co-founder of Courageous Sport.

Wāhine or kōhine role model

Ruby Tui is one of these wāhine for me.

Another woman who has been a role model for me is my mum. Back in the 1970s, she stood up for young girls who wanted to play netball, but the school said if they didn't make the top few teams, they couldn't play. So she went out and started the Upper Hutt Junior Netball Club so that all girls who wanted to play could do so. The club is still going strong today.

SUPER WOMAN power
I reckon my superwoman power is seeing the bigger picture—like being up in a helicopter and seeing the whole landscape that you just can't see from the ground. This is really helpful when figuring out complex problems and joining the dots between cause and effect.

SUPER WOMAN nickname
Artemis Sue! I named my company after this wonderful Greek goddess, who is a warrior goddess and a nurturer of plants and animals.

Main motivations to be active
I want to live a long and healthy life. I am older and wiser these days, and understand that I need to invest my time in activities that keep me fit, flexible, and moving. So I do want to enjoy Pilates, mountain biking, and dancing.

Advice to inspire wāhine in Sport and Active Recreation
Two things...
1. You have a unique perspective that deserves to be heard. Please share it. I know how uncomfortable that can be, and I also know that when we have a range of voices in the room, we make better decisions.
2. When you listen, be curious; listen to learn rather than listen to win or fix. If you do this, you will discover the superpower of a question.
